 When TRANSMISSION EXCHANGE CO
was founded in 1952 the automatic transmission was new. They were all
American built passenger car rear wheel drive models, and though they were
on the cutting edge of technology for their time, they seem primitive
today. Now, automatic transmissions and transaxles are used in both cars
and trucks, they're built all over the world, and often
are operated electronically by onboard computers. One thing has not changed
- TRANSMISSION EXCHANGE CO's dedication to quality and testing removes the

Standard transmissions
have also become increasingly complex. In 1952 most standard transmissions
were three speeds with no synchromesh in low gear. Four and five speeds
were non synchronized units used only in trucks. Today's four, five and six
speed standard transmissions and transaxles are quieter, smoother and more

Transmission and Torque Converter Packages for 4x4s, pickups, vans, motor
homes, delivery and other hard use applications as well as Tow Matrix
transmissions for extreme duty applications.
The automatic
transmission of choice in heavy duty fleet applications is the Allison automatic. These four, five and six speed on
and off road behemoths require specially trained technicians, as well as

factor in the market. Today we carry hundreds of models of standard and
automatic transmissions and transaxles, for cars and trucks because
